Rejoice, for this is the day that we gump.
And we’re gonna start off with some good news and something funny.
First, how about a little humor to start your week, and it doesn’t get funnier than Auburn rolling Toomer’s corner for winning the NIT.
I have seen some embarrassing displays of fandom, but that is top-tier cringe. Even for Auburn.
Now for the good news: Oats’ contract has been signed.
Moreover, one more domino we needn’t worry about fell into place last night (notwithstanding Coach Oats’ massive new deal).
So what is UNC left with, after striking out on its top three candidates? Billy Donovan or bust? An unsatisfying (but excellent) second-tier candidate like Mark Byington (Vandy), Grant McCasland (TTU) or Ben McCollum (Iowa)?
By most accounts, there is some mutual interest with Bill D…and Duke fans are already preemptively melting down at the prospect of a competent Carolina.
I’m just glad that it’s not our problem any longer. And, I do love how May is replying to all of the speculation and rumor:
“After last year, I decided that I’ll never, ever respond to any job speculation,” May told reporters. “I made the comment that I was flattered about a certain job opening because of my background. That was misconstrued. And so I just decided that I’m never going to comment on any job that I don’t have.
“I think it’s well-documented how happy I am at Michigan. Obviously, my private life, my personal life, my family, their happiness is very important. So yeah, I love it at Michigan, but I’ll never, you’ll never hear me comment on any other job unless Michigan lets me go — and then I’ll comment on every job.”
As the headline says, it was one helluva weekend on the diamond for Alabama. The No. 16/10 Crimson Tide traveled to Norman, and claimed their third straight SEC series over No. 11 Oklahoma. The Tide have now won 10 of 11, and are somehow in 3rd place in an SEC with 11 ranked teams.
Simply remarkable turnaround the last month after Alabama opened the season looking like buffoons who couldn’t find their ass with two hands and a compass. I mean that too: they did literally nothing well — batting, pitching or fielding.
This last month has either been a miracle or the first one was a lot of inexcusable play by a team who’s a lot better than they showed.
Meanwhile, No. 5 Alabama Softball hosted the No. 1 Texas Longhorns. As we wrote last week, the win over a top 10 Arkansas team was very good. And once again established Alabama as a forced to be reckoned with in the SEC. But the Texas series was going to tell us much more — whether Alabama is built for a national title run.
After almost being run-ruled in Game 1, it looks like the Longhorns were simply in a class of of their own. But Team 30 had something to say about that, claiming the next two, and winning the series outright. That moves ‘Bama into second in the SEC, behind only Patty Gasso’s machine at Oklahoma.

Softball now gets a breather, with a three-game stand against woeful Auburn. Baseball, after three straight ranked series, faces Arkansas. But let’s not pretend that DVH isn’t going to bring a competitive team with him. The Hogs still have as much talent as anyone in the conference.
Alabama Women’s Wheelchair basketball continued its absolute dominance over the field, winning its sixth straight natty in a rout over UT-Arlington on Friday night.
Alabama women’s wheelchair basketball took down UT Arlington 55–37 in the 2026 NIWBT National Championship on Saturday in Tucson, Arizona.
The Crimson Tide’s defense was stifling, and UT Arlington shooting 27.9 percent from the field (17 of 61) reflects that.
Alabama ends the season 22–3, including a 15–2 record against the conference. The Crimson Tide went 7–1 at home and 15–2 on the road.
The men, who are no slouches either with five titles of their own, unfortunately fell to Auburn in the title game, but it was another outstanding season for them as well.
Congratulations to both teams.
